Weekly Statement: We Call for Broad Participation in the “Popular Day of Rage” — The Ruler Is Staggering Toward the Abyss Amid Regional Developments
The following is the text of the weekly statement issued by the Political Council of the February 14 Youth Coalition:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
The Political Council of the February 14 Youth Coalition extends its condolences on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her). It also salutes the people of Bahrain, who commemorated the occasion across the country, reaffirming their steadfast commitment to their identity and religious observances despite the repression and the campaign of religious cleansing led by the tyrant Hamad.
We affirm that the large public turnout at religious occasions represents the people’s steadfast position in confronting the ongoing Al Khalifa assault on religious observances. This will continue until the ruler’s entire scheme is thwarted and he is deterred from interfering with citizens’ beliefs and authentic identity.
In light of recent developments, we highlight the following points in this week’s statement:
1. The Al Khalifa family will not succeed in intimidating citizens or preventing them from commemorating religious occasions in the manner they have observed for many decades. The security apparatus implementing the plan for religious cleansing in the country will come to realize that popular resistance in defence of identity and belief will exceed all expectations.
Any escalation of restrictions and attempts to suppress religious observances will motivate citizens to develop their resistance to the Al Khalifa authorities. Past experience has demonstrated the people’s strength in bringing the ruler’s schemes to the ground and trampling them underfoot. If he fails to learn from these experiences, he should expect to face severe popular reactions.
2. We announce our support for and solidarity with the anticipated popular movement on November 8, under the banner of the “Popular Day of Rage.” We call on everyone to participate actively and in large numbers in the programmes and activities that will be announced for this occasion.
At the same time, we emphasize that our dear people will not abandon their detained religious scholars. The people will turn the crime of their arrest and trial into a noose around the neck of the Al Khalifa regime, burning away what remains of its arrogance and brutality. This disgraceful act will mark the final stage on the path toward ending more than two centuries of oppression and crimes against the country’s indigenous citizens.
3. We renew our complete confidence in the ability of the people of Bahrain to overturn the balance of injustice in the country and transform challenges and hardships into major opportunities that will contribute to defeating what we call the Al Khalifa’s “triple evil”: corruption, authoritarianism, and subservience.
Although the current period is among the harshest our people have endured, as crimes and violations have targeted their beliefs, identity, and symbols, the course of events and the people’s long experience in resisting the Al Khalifa family and thwarting its malicious schemes confirm that the people’s capabilities are stronger and more formidable than ever.
The Al Khalifa’s reliance on repression and killing has failed. Their strategy of arresting prominent figures and separating leaders from the people has failed, as has their strategy of exiling senior religious scholars. Those behind these strategies believed that the people would lose hope and determination, become exhausted and despairing, and eventually be forced to surrender to the ruler.
However, events have taken the Al Khalifa family and its allies by surprise. The people have demonstrated that their faith and their attachment to their leaders and religious scholars are deeply rooted in their hearts and minds, and cannot be severed or weakened by imprisonment, exile, normalization, or foreign military bases.
4. We reaffirm our vision for addressing the mounting crises in Bahrain. The optimal solution, we maintain, is to eliminate the root cause of the problem: the Al Khalifa family’s domination over the country’s indigenous people, and to restore the people’s full right to manage the country’s domestic and foreign affairs.
This requires ending the tribal, feudal-style system of rule that prevails in the country under the guise of modern institutions.
For generations, our people and their active political forces have built a long history of struggle to secure the people’s full political rights and establish a constitutional state that reflects the will of all the country’s indigenous communities, guarantees justice and freedom, ensures equal citizenship, and applies the law to everyone without discrimination or privilege.
Unless these objectives are achieved, the Al Khalifa family will not see a white flag raised by any member of this people, no matter how tyrannical they become or how extensively they ally themselves with the people’s enemies and the enemies of the nation.
5. The Al Khalifa regime is wavering in its foreign allegiances amid the changes taking place in the region and the world. This instability is expected, in our view, to intensify in the foreseeable future, extending beyond the Saudi-Emirati axis within which the Al Khalifa family has entrenched itself.
The repercussions will grow more severe as regional power balances become increasingly unsettled and the interests of dominant powers in the Gulf and worldwide shift.
This is particularly significant in light of what we describe as the fundamental change brought about by Iran through its resilience in the face of American-Israeli aggression and its insistence on rejecting any security arrangements led by the American-Israeli alliance, which includes the Al Khalifa regime.
Just as reliance on the House of Saud failed to suppress the 2011 uprising, alignment with the Emirati regime, and through it with the Israelis, will bring the Al Khalifa regime nothing but further disappointment and adverse consequences.
6. In this context, the meeting of what is referred to as the “Mecca Alliance” — Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan — with Iranian leaders in Tehran on Monday, October 26, has underscored, in our assessment, the failure of the Al Khalifa regime’s double-dealing policy.
The photograph of the four-party meeting demonstrated that ruler Hamad has yet to grasp the strategic landscape shaped by Iran and the Resistance Front following the aggression against Iran.
The Al Khalifa regime will discover that its hopes of persuading Iran to restore diplomatic relations will become nothing more than a distant wish. Its policies have gone to extreme lengths in hostility and conspiracy against Iran, as well as in punishing our people for rejecting the aggression against it.
These are significant realities that will not be excluded from the new calculations that the Resistance Front is expected to insist upon in the post-aggression phase and following the withdrawal of American forces from the region.
7. On the eve of the Israeli and American elections, as their outcomes are awaited with regard to the regional and international landscape, the criminal Donald Trump, in support of his ally Netanyahu, spoke of the end of the era in which the slogans “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” were raised.
Here, we reaffirm our unequivocal position: regardless of the outcomes of these elections, whoever comes to power will be no less criminal or brutal than their predecessor, even if their methods and agendas differ.
The United States, as taught to us by the late Imam Khomeini and his martyred successor, Khamenei (may their souls be sanctified), will remain “the Great Satan,” while “Israel” will remain a cancerous growth that must disappear, by the will of Almighty God.
