Bahrain’s Opposition Forces: Claims of Targeting Holy Mecca Are Pure Falsehood and Fabrication and Fall Within Misleading Propaganda

Bahrain’s opposition forces express their concern over the misleading claims that have been circulated in recent days regarding the alleged targeting of Holy Mecca. We emphasize that the debates and statements published on this matter require Muslims to exercise the highest degree of scrutiny and vigilance, and that Islamic holy sites must not be turned into material for political incitement or sectarian agitation, particularly amid the ongoing conflicts and the interference of foreign powers in the affairs of the region.

In this context, Bahrain’s opposition forces state the following:

1. Holy Mecca is the first qibla of Muslims and holds a sacred status for Muslims of all schools and denominations. It is inappropriate to turn it into a political or military matter amid the ongoing confrontations in the region. We call for any claim concerning the security of this blessed place or any alleged attack against it to be addressed with accuracy, caution, and credibility.

2. According to the information, facts, and independent sources that have come to light, we consider the reports circulated by the media concerning the targeting of Holy Mecca by a drone to be nothing more than lies and fabrications, falling within misleading propaganda in the ongoing conflict in Yemen and serving the interests of governmental parties involved in that conflict.

3. We express our grave concern over these falsehoods and similar claims, and over what they reveal of suspicious motives aimed at provoking discord and fueling further division among Muslim countries in service of the ambitions of the enemies of the Ummah. We stress that being drawn into promoting such falsehoods is a dangerous criminal act, as it may destabilize the security and stability of the region, in addition to negatively affecting perceptions of Muslim countries and their holy sites.

4. We affirm our confidence that the honorable people of Yemen, like the rest of the Muslim Ummah, reject any harm being done to any of the sacred sites of Muslims. Protecting the Sacred House, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and all Islamic holy sites is a principled position that the Yemeni people have affirmed through their honorable support for Gaza and Lebanon. Only those who are linked to the projects of foreign powers and groups serving them would cast doubt on this authentic position.

5. We declare our solidarity with the oppressed Yemeni people and call for an end to the aggression against them and for the lifting of the blockade on Yemen. We also call for enabling Yemenis to manage their own affairs without external dictates or interference. This is Yemen—the land of wisdom, authenticity, and dignity—and it has honorable sons capable of advancing and rebuilding their country through their own efforts and through cooperation among the various honorable Yemeni forces.
