Statement No. 1 Issued by the Organizing Committee of the “Popular Day of Rage” — November 8
The organizing committee of the “Popular Day of Rage,” scheduled for November 8, has issued its Statement No. 1. The text reads as follows:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
In response to the call of the leading religious jurist, Ayatollah Qassim, and stemming from the religious and national responsibility imposed by this sensitive phase in the history of our homeland, and from our conviction that there are moments when principled positions must be taken without hesitation or submission to narrow political calculations, the organizing committee of the “Popular Day of Rage” affirms that standing firmly against decisions that affect people’s religion, dignity, and rights is a religious, moral, and national responsibility.
Our unequivocal response to the abhorrent sectarian conduct of the Al Khalifa regime, and to its unjust decisions that contravene religion and doctrine, is the response we draw from our faith and fundamental principles: the declaration of monotheism“There is no god but Allah. This declaration encapsulates the meaning of liberation from submission to anyone other than Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He. It is the fortress of the believer who fears no blame when acting for the sake of Allah.
O proud people of Bahrain
November 8 comes amid unjust decisions targeting Bahrain’s largest religious sect. It also coincides with concerns surrounding the trial of our esteemed senior religious scholars, particularly amid indications that unjust verdicts may be handed down against them. This calls for a clear national stance grounded in safeguarding the dignity of religious scholars, ensuring justice, and rejecting this unjust sham trial, in which scholars are being prosecuted on the basis of their religious beliefs and private sectarian affairs.
Our esteemed scholars hold an enduring place in the hearts and minds of our community. Standing alongside them is an expression of fidelity to religious and national values and of commitment to every person’s right to justice and dignity, free from compromises that reduce major issues to narrow calculations or temporary political interests.
Accordingly, the organizing committee affirms the following:
First: The current phase demands a renewed stand against injustice and tyranny. We therefore call on the groups operating on the ground to reorganize their ranks, strengthen communication and coordination among themselves, and make responsible preparations for the upcoming milestone across Bahrain’s various regions, with a spirit of awareness and cohesion and a profound understanding of the magnitude of the responsibility imposed by this phase.
Second: November 8 represents an important occasion to express rejection of the trial of our esteemed senior religious scholars, to warn of the consequences of issuing unjust verdicts against them, to demand their immediate release, and to call for the reversal of unjust decisions targeting the Shia presence in Bahrain.
Third: We call on the people of Bahrain in all regions to rise to the occasion and prepare to express their position and raise their voices in defense of our esteemed scholars and in affirmation of their commitment to dignity, freedom, and justice. November 8 must convey a clear message expressing the anger of the masses and their legitimate demands, foremost among them the political demand for the right to self-determination.
The organizing committee will issue regular statements to keep pace with developments related to the upcoming “Popular Day of Rage,” clarify its positions and public messages, and keep the public informed of relevant developments in the lead-up to November 8. We seek to make this day a broad expression of adherence to our religious principles, defense of our dedicated religious scholars who remain imprisoned, rejection of injustice, and a stand in support of the values of justice.
O steadfast and proud people of Bahrain,
November 8 is a date for an overwhelming outpouring of popular anger; a date to stand firm in support of the political demands raised by the people in February 2011; a date for an unequivocal rejection of the regime’s unjust decisions; a date to reject the trial of our esteemed religious scholars and demand their immediate release; and a date to call for the release of all political detainees and the emptying of prisons of all political prisoners, without conditions.
