Event of the Week (Saturday, August 22, 2026): From Education to Camps — The Model of False Citizenship in Bahrain
The Royal Academy of Police has concluded the first week of its summer camp, which will run until the end of this month, coinciding with the new edition of the “Qadha Junior” military program sponsored by Nasser, the son of dictator Hamad. The program is aimed at children and young people and will continue until the beginning of September.
The summer camp is part of what is known as the “National Plan for Promoting National Belonging and Consolidating the Values of Citizenship,” commonly referred to as “Bahrainuna” (Our Bahrain). It is a comprehensive plan established in 2019 and headed by Interior Minister Rashid, together with an executive committee tasked with developing periodic programs to achieve the plan’s objectives.
The plan seeks to establish two things. First, it aims to cement absolute loyalty to dictator Hamad and portray such loyalty as a prerequisite for belonging to the nation and proving one’s good citizenship. Second, it seeks to militarize this loyalty by associating it with the glorification of the security and military institutions, thereby creating a layered allegiance to an alternative identity that is to be instilled among citizens, particularly children and young people.
In this context, the regime has created a practical “model” for this identity and seeks to compel people to follow and venerate it. This model is embodied by the dictator’s son, “the executioner Nasser,” who is intended to become the unifying symbol of this fabricated identity and its mythical exemplar.
A Plan to Poison Generations with an Ideology of Loyalty to the Military and the Al Khalifa’s Executioners
It is useful to recall the historical context in which the “Bahrainuna” plan was established. At the end of 2018, the regime finalized its vision for an expanded campaign against the people’s identity, rituals, and symbols, after realizing that the authentic values underpinning this identity would remain the greatest obstacle to its ultimate objective of occupation.
It therefore decided to fabricate a parallel identity centered on the Al Khalifa family, while continuing its campaign against the authentic identity.
The plan encompasses more than 100 programs distributed across the public and private sectors, targeting children and young people and providing promotional content for the alternative identity. It also entails absolute control over curricula and legislation, adapting all of them to conform to an ideology of allegiance to the Al Khalifa.
Despite the seriousness of these programs, they remain limited and incapable of achieving their intended objective, because adherence to the people’s identity is fundamentally an existential matter. Moreover, the Al Khalifa model of identity is impossible to market, because its figures represent the highest levels of corruption, criminality, and subservience. Any allegiance to them amounts to dismantling the foundations of the doctrine of wilaya (allegiance) and bara’a (disavowal) upon which the authentic identity and existence of the people are based.
