Al-Khalifa Regime Increases Suffering of Detainees, as Condemned by International Human Rights Organizations

The prisoners in the Central Prison of Joe have demanded to stop the provocative and humiliating search methods, the confiscation of prisoners’ belongings and cloths and stealing their hygiene tools, which they buy at their expense. They revealed via text messages that they were subjected to a wave of oppression, continued violations and ill-treatment by the prison administration, which was confirmed by the report of the Amnesty International in 2019.

The prisoners in the Central Prison of Joe have demanded to stop the provocative and humiliating search methods, the confiscation of prisoners’ belongings and cloths and stealing their hygiene tools, which they buy at their expense. They revealed via text messages that they were subjected to a wave of oppression, continued violations and ill-treatment by the prison administration, which was confirmed by the report of the Amnesty International in 2019.

Resources said that on Saturday, Feb 22, 2020, the prison administration conducted an inspection campaign on cells for more than 4 hours, which was described as a humiliating measure. Prisoners were forced to get out of their cells and stand until the end of the campaign.

It is noteworthy that the Amnesty International had issued its annual report, which emphasized that Al-Khalifa regime has made vigorous efforts to suppress the freedom of expression, enforcing collective illegal trails, revocations of nationality and death penalties against opponents who rejects its lawless regime , in addition to the bad conditions suffered by the political prisoners as a result of health negligence.
