Event of the Week (Saturday, 26 September 2026): The Al Khalifa’s Rush Toward the Deadly American Precipice
On 25 September, the twenty-first meeting of the Joint Military Committee between the Al Khalifa regime and the United States was held. According to the official news agency, the meeting addressed issues aimed at increasing U.S. military support for the regime and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of defense.
Bahrain has recently witnessed a series of security- and military-related meetings, notably focused on the American side. U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of War Michael Dimino IV visited the country as part of his role in chairing the Joint Military Committee meeting between the two sides. In this context, he also met with Nasser, the son of the tyrant Hamad, in his capacity as so-called National Security Adviser and commander of the so-called Royal Guard.
Separately, the tyrant made a point of publicly promoting a recent meeting with his son Salman, during which the meeting was given a military character, with particular emphasis on discussing the regime’s future military plans.
Although the regime has long assigned the highest priority to the security and military dimensions of its policies, as well as to dependence on foreign powers, observers have noted its recent eagerness to intensify military cooperation with the Americans. This has occurred alongside security and diplomatic meetings with U.S. officials in Manama and New York.
Why Does the Al Khalifa Continue to Bet on the Damaged American Bases?
Foreign reports indicate that the U.S. administration is assessing its military deployment in the region, following reports revealing the extent of the damage sustained by American bases and assets as a result of Iranian attacks.
Experts have spoken of growing concern among Gulf regimes should the Americans withdraw, similar to the British withdrawal following the decline of the British Empire.
Given the challenges surrounding the Al Khalifa, observers have noted an increased eagerness on the regime’s part to demonstrate its alliance with and attachment to the Americans. This has been accompanied by a simultaneous display of hostility toward the Resistance Front.
This dual drive is almost a defining characteristic of the Al Khalifa regime compared with other states. Analysts view it as an indication that the Al Khalifa’s strategic blindness has led them to narrow their options for salvation to becoming ever more deeply immersed in the American quagmire. This, in turn, requires them to display an increasingly intense hostility toward Iran and its allies, cross red lines in inciting against them, provoke everything associated with them, and ultimately accept all the requirements of normalization with the Zionists.
According to historical experience and the available evidence, the end of this blind course will be nothing other than a rapid descent toward a deadly precipice.
