Weekly Position Statement: The People of Bahrain Will Not Allow the Genocide and Normalization Plan and Will Continue to Resist and Defy Decisions of Religious Persecution
The Political Council of the February 14 Youth Coalition issued its weekly position statement. The following is the full text:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
With the beginning of the new academic year in Bahrain, we extend our congratulations to our sons and daughters, the male and female students, on the start of a new chapter in their educational and academic lives. We call on them to make every effort to make the most of their time in the pursuit of knowledge and the attainment of the highest grades, stressing that this is at the heart of religious and national identity; indeed, it is an utmost necessity for preserving identity and strengthening the people in the face of the challenges they confront to undermine their civilizational and spiritual existence.
We urge honorable parents to follow up on their children, provide them with a suitable environment despite the restrictions and targeting they face, and ensure their educational and religious well-being through religious education that preserves their identity and authentic sense of belonging and protects them from the effects of the dangerous plan threatening their noble values and morals.
In this weekly position statement, we highlight the following points:
1. The Al Khalifa Ministry of Justice’s recent requirement to obtain security clearance before taking to the pulpits to deliver sermons or perform religious chants in mosques and mourning halls was not surprising to us, because the Al Khalifa family has repeatedly declared its explicit intention to antagonize the Shiite presence and has shown no hesitation in waging a campaign against its identity, symbols, institutions, and religious seminaries. Over the years, the tyrant Hamad has given the green light for a successive series of decisions and decrees aimed at besieging the Shiites and criminalizing their beliefs and rituals, beginning with personal-status legislation and the criminalization of khums and mourning processions; followed by the dissolution of religious associations, the termination of the administration of Ja’fari endowments, and the arrest and exile of senior religious scholars; and culminating in subjecting the religious functions of preaching, chanting, and religious instruction to prior approval from the Ministry of Interior.
2. There is no longer any doubt that the Al Khalifa regime is proceeding with an overt plan aimed at ending the Shiite presence in Bahrain. We therefore call on everyone to accurately characterize what is taking place on the ground and to regard it as overt genocide aimed at destroying the identity of the indigenous citizens and eliminating every manifestation of that identity. We affirm that accurately diagnosing the reality and identifying those directly responsible will lead to taking the proper steps at the appropriate time. Adopting a comprehensive and accurate vision will also help build an integrated project to confront this existential threat and establish a discourse, steps, and programs that go beyond the fears and illusions that the Al Khalifa themselves contribute to spreading among the public in order to influence public opinion and the positions of local elites and forces.
3. The natural position of our people and their religious and social leaders is to reject all decisions and decrees that attack identity, religious belief, and religious rituals, and to declare disobedience to them and refuse to submit to them in any way whatsoever. Compliance with them would not merely constitute a violation of religious rulings; it would also facilitate the Al Khalifa regime’s efforts to carry out the genocide of the people of Bahrain and accelerate its transition from a plan to turn the indigenous citizens into a persecuted numerical minority to eliminating them, driving them toward loss, dispersion, and gradual disappearance. Our people will not violate religious rulings or their faith, nor will they allow the genocide plan to proceed. They will continue in the path of their ancestors and forefathers in steadfastness and resistance until the Al Khalifa occupation is defeated.
4. In mid-September, we recall the grim anniversary of the signing of the disgraceful normalization agreements between the Zionist entity and the Al Khalifa regime. These agreements constituted the official and public gateway through which the Al Khalifa joined the alliance of genocide and aggression led by the United States and the Zionist entity. Their impact became evident through their declared involvement in the wars of aggression led by the two criminals, “Trump and Netanyahu,” against Iran and the Resistance Front in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen. We affirm that the position of the people of Bahrain, who reject the normalization agreements and the Zionist espionage den in Manama, is part of their principled position in support of the resistance and in confronting the forces of domination. This position will not be undermined by the Al Khalifa’s normalization and dependency agreements, nor by their laws of repression and persecution.
5. The “tyrant Hamad” is bringing his rule to a close by driving our country toward major collapses in both economic stability and national sovereignty. Bahrain’s total public debt has reached a record 20 billion Bahraini dinars, amid systematic financial corruption linked to a policy of dividing the spoils between the pro-normalization Prime Minister Salman and his brother, the “executioner” Nasser. The former exercises control over Mumtalakat, which manages strategic assets, while Nasser controls the oil sector through Bapco Energies. This is accompanied by subordinating the country to foreign-policy agendas and linking it to the interests of powers of domination and aggression. All of this has resulted, on the one hand, in violations of Bahrain’s sovereignty and, on the other, in threats to citizens’ security, the stability of their livelihoods, and their dignified lives.
