Second Periodic Meeting of Opposition Forces Discusses the “Trial of Senior Clerics and the Existential War on the Sect” in Bahrain
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Representatives of Bahraini opposition forces met and discussed a number of issues related to public affairs inside Bahrain during the recent period. At the outset, they affirmed the substance of the statement issued by His Eminence Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim—may Allah preserve him—on July 14, 2026, which identified an existential threat facing Bahraini citizens of the Shiite faith, amid the regime’s perpetration of crimes unprecedented in the history of the country’s indigenous citizens.
They stressed that the official campaigns of terror and the war of ethnic and sectarian cleansing targeting mosques, husseiniyahs, endowments, clerics, and religious pilgrimages are being carried out on the direct orders of the ruler, “Hamad,” and implemented by his Interior Minister, “Rashid Al Khalifa.”
In light of the dangerous developments taking place in our country, Bahrain, and affecting our proud people, the opposition forces declare the following:
1. Affirming that belonging to one’s homeland and faith requires rejecting injustice, persecution, and humiliation; refusing to relinquish sovereignty; resisting the policy of targeting citizens on sectarian grounds; and maintaining full awareness of all the authorities’ schemes. This includes confronting attempts to tamper with the country and its resources, upholding national unity, protecting Bahrain from reckless foreign adventures, and preventing it from being drawn into alliances and aggressive agendas.
2. Calling for active participation in commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba—peace be upon him—on the seventh day of the month of Safar, and for refusing to comply with unjust laws that undermine public rights and freedoms, particularly the laws underpinning the war of ethnic and sectarian cleansing led by “Hamad” with the aim of criminalizing religious rituals and intimidating citizens, and preventing them from attending religious occasions in large numbers—occasions that constitute an inseparable part of the identity of Bahrain and its indigenous people.
3. Declaring Friday, July 24, 2026, a day of solidarity with our imprisoned scholars under the slogan “Friday in Support of the Scholars.” Citizens are called upon to gather in mosques and pray, with tranquil hearts, to Allah Almighty for the release of these esteemed scholars held hostage in the regime’s prisons, and for the destruction of their unjust oppressors and criminal torturers. They are also urged to beseech Him, Glorified and Exalted, to deliver them, our symbols, and our people from injustice, torment, and persecution, and to grant security and peace to our people in Bahrain and to our Arab and Islamic peoples through the departure of the invaders and the forces of arrogance from our lands.
4. Calling upon our dear people in Bahrain to protest on Friday as part of the “Friday in Support of the Scholars” campaign, and to demonstrate throughout the country in rejection of the war of ethnic and sectarian cleansing and extermination led by “Hamad,” particularly the trial of the esteemed scholars, the deliberate assault on their dignity and religious and national standing, and their exposure to the worst forms of physical and psychological torture.
The people are called upon to raise slogans affirming that the people of Bahrain will neither surrender nor retreat; that they will remain faithful to their homeland, identity, religious rituals, and scholars; that the oppressors will be defeated and will not prevail; and that they will continue until they achieve a resounding victory, by the permission of Allah Almighty.
