The women’s committee of the February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition issued a statement in support of the human rights defender ‘’Maryam al-Khawaja’’ and in solidarity with the mothers of the detainees, which reads as follows;
In the Name of Allah the Most Merciful
Our dear detainees enter their sixth week in the ongoing battle ‘’We Have Right’’ in order to achieve their legitimate demands and to regain their stolen human rights.
Our proud domestic and international people have proven that the issue of political prisoners cannot negotiate; this was reflected by the diverse popular movement in various towns. The freedom movement was remarkable, especially the mothers of detainees, who have confirmed their solidarity with their sons, sometimes by protests and sometimes by hunger strike, and also by the media stances and statements, without any fear of the threat or harassment of the regime.
While we commend this movement, which we have become accustomed to throughout the years of the revolution from our Zainabiyat freedoms; we must stand at the courageous and bold step of the activist ‘’Maryam al-Khawaja’’ by announcing her return to Bahrain in support of her father, the human rights icon, ‘’the detainee Abdulhadi al-Khawaja’’ and the other of the icons and detainees on hunger strike, despite what she may face from arrest, imprisonment or other forms of abuse and repression. We in the women’s committee of the February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition declare our full support for ‘’Al-Khawaja’’ and call for intensifying popular solidarity with her to ensure her safety.
