The Joe Prison Administration punished a number of prisoners on hunger strike by transferring them to solitary confinement, after being summoned for alleged dialogue with them.
On the 17th day of the strike, h uman rights sources reported that on Saturday, August 31, 2019, they received “information that a number of prisoners on hunger strike were transferred to solitary confinement, including Sadiq al-Ghasra, Hassan Hammad, Salah Saeed Saleh, and Muhammad Juma Shamluh.” and a number of other prisoners, because of their voice messages that addressed the reality of their situation and their exposure to revenge and threats.
The sources highlighted that 7 to 10 prisoners have been falling daily since three days ago due to their hunger strike, and are transferred to the clinic of Joe prison.
It is noteworthy that on Thursday, 15 August 2019, 15 political prisoners in the isolation building at Joe Central Prison announced their hunger strike demanding that they be removed from the isolation and merged with the other detainees, then joined by more than 200 detainees. And more than 450 detainees were declared that they will enter a hanger strike in Dry Dock Prison, to stop ill-treatment, allow them to practice religious rites, and remove barriers during their family visits.
