Bahraini Opposition Forces: We Remain Firm in the Revolution’s Demands for Justice, Dignity, and Sovereignty
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
The opposition forces in Bahrain extend their highest tribute to our dear people in Bahrain on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the launch of their glorious revolution on February 14, 2011. Our people, their leaders, and their sincere forces remain steadfast in the revolution’s demands for justice, dignity, and sovereignty despite all repression and coercion. They continue along this path with confidence that victory will ultimately be theirs, no matter how intense the oppression becomes, for this is what God has promised the oppressed who are patient and sacrificing: “And it was incumbent upon Us to grant victory to the believers.” Our people in Bahrain stand as a clear example of patience and sacrifice.
On this significant occasion, the opposition forces record the following points:
Despite all the challenges that have occurred domestically and internationally, and despite the repression, siege, and persecution faced by our people, their leaders, and their forces, they have remained steadfast in the demands they raised at the beginning of their revolution, including their right to self-determination.
The Bahrain revolution, through the steadfastness of our people and their honorable leadership and forces in upholding constitutional political rights, and through strict adherence to ethical values and higher principles in defining opposition methods and tools of popular protest, has maintained its active presence on the ground fifteen years after its blessed launch. This great achievement is conclusive evidence of the authenticity of the Bahrain revolution, its full popular legitimacy, and the justice and validity of its demands. It is an achievement whose magnitude will be recognized by anyone who understands what has befallen other Arab revolutions and the devastating outcomes they have unfortunately reached.
The value of steadfastness in the Bahrain revolution does not mean submission to surrounding changes and pressures. Rather, it is a living and dynamic value that derives its meaning from our people’s reliance on firm reference foundations that express their cultural, religious, and struggle-based identity. This is a faith-based and transformative identity deeply rooted in intellect, conscience, and history. It provides our people with strength, vitality, and great hope, and grants successive generations resilience against frustration and despair caused by blocked horizons or doubts about the usefulness of holding on to just rights.
The hardships faced by our country Bahrain and our oppressed people—including worsening living conditions, rising unemployment, and the deterioration of a dignified standard of living—are fundamentally due to the absence of a just constitutional state. This has led to the domination of influential individuals over public property, the waste of the state budget on failed projects, the spread of financial and administrative corruption across institutions and ministries, and the implementation of financial and economic policies that serve foreign interests and unrestrained capitalist greed. The situation has been further worsened by the consequences of political naturalization, the entrenchment of systems of discrimination and privilege, and the lack of practical commitment to the principle of prioritizing citizens in employment, in contrast to the preference given to foreigners in both the public and private sectors.
Our message to the authority in Bahrain, on the fifteenth anniversary of the glorious revolution, remains the same message that rises openly from the voices and chants of the people, which continue to expand day after day, across all arenas demanding full freedom, honorable employment, adequate housing, a dignified life, and the cancellation of normalization. These firm popular messages confirm the failure of the authority’s calculations to suppress the people’s legitimate demands and the collapse of its bets on forcing them to surrender. The authority has no safe option for the country and its stability except to respond to these messages.
