Statement by the Religious Leader Sheikh Qassim on the Health Condition of “Mr. Hassan Mushaima” in Prison
His Eminence the Religious Leader Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim issued a statement regarding the health condition of “Mr. Hassan Mushaima” in his prison. The text reads as follows:
In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
The deterioration of Mr. Hassan Mushaima’s health condition in his prison, and the succession of serious illnesses afflicting him in a manner that threatens his life, together with what lies behind this of solitary confinement and the neglect of proper medical care and treatment—constituting a disregard for his human dignity—are matters that necessitate his immediate release, especially since the very basis of his incarceration was his demand for the rights of the people and respect for their noble freedom, in the face of the abhorrent injustice inflicted upon him and upon a large number of the people’s sons.
All free people of the nation, who respect its rights and the dignified freedom of its sons, demand that the ruling regime release its political prisoners, whether prominent figures or others. This is a right among the confiscated rights of the people, and there is no end to demanding their restoration until they are fully returned.
The cessation of opposition and the demand for rights comes only with the cessation of all oppression. Is this not the truth that no rational person can rightly deny?
