Weekly Position: Popular Commemoration on 17 December Thwarts the Tribe’s False Celebrations… The Martyrs’ File Is a Trust on Everyone’s Shoulders
Issued by the Political Council of the February 14 Youth Coalition – Weekly Position
Text of the statement:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Our people in Bahrain have reaffirmed their steadfast stance by commemorating Martyrs’ Day on 17 December, once again delivering a living lesson in loyalty to the path of the martyrs and to their just objectives for which they sacrificed their lives. On this occasion, we in the Political Council of the February 14 Youth Coalition express our deep appreciation to the loyal masses of our people who answered the martyrs’ call this year under the slogan “Our Martyrs Are Beacons of Light.” We commend the vibrant and highly engaged atmosphere that marked the commemorative activities, through marches, gatherings, visits to the martyrs’ cemeteries, and revolutionary protests.
This popular presence constituted a direct response to the false atmosphere that filled the Al-Khalifa entity’s fabricated celebrations of its counterfeit occasions, for which it devoted money and propaganda to force people into participation. Yet the people chose to stand with their righteous martyrs and their honorable families, instead of engaging in falsification and pledging loyalty to the criminal killers.
On this occasion, we record the following points as part of our weekly position:
1. The commemoration of Martyrs’ Day this year gave practical meaning to the concept of loyalty to the martyrs and steadfastness in their noble goals. The popular and revolutionary presence succeeded in disrupting the planned scheme aimed at erasing the people’s memory and identity, especially through besieging them and shackling them with fabricated occasions under titles such as “Accession Day,” “National Day,” “Martyr’s Day,” and “Police Day.” These occasions have been coordinated and engineered to target our people’s values and, over time, to crowd out and eliminate the authentic occasions that truly express the people’s struggle and their deep religious and national belonging.
2. The Al-Khalifa regime had bet on the passage of days and years until the gap between people and their history and memory widened, forcing them eventually to submit to the Al-Khalifa family’s occasions and fabricated memories. However, this bet collapses day after day, especially in light of the large-scale commemoration of Martyrs’ Day witnessed every year. This reflects the people’s awareness and deep understanding of the nature of the eradication project being plotted against their existence and national and religious identity. This resistant meaning has now become one of the foremost significances embodied by adherence to this day on 17 December and the people’s refusal to abandon it.
3. The commemoration of Martyrs’ Day this year by our people and revolutionary youth delivered more than one lesson and message, including:
a. The pure blood that is shed for the sake of truth, justice, and dignity is never wasted, no matter how long time may pass.
b. The system of loyalty to the martyrs can never be broken in any way, as it is built upon fundamental pillars, foremost among them: the steadfastness of the martyrs’ families and their refusal to relinquish the pure blood of their loved ones; the people’s commitment to their covenant with the martyrs and their oath to continue along their path until victory; and the pillar of the devout scholars and leading symbols who safeguard the martyrs’ march from collapse or retreat—among them the beloved leader of the people, the late Allama Sheikh Abdul Amir Al-Jamri.
4. We salute the dignified voices of the martyrs’ families—fathers and mothers—who appeared in the episodes of the program “Hadith Al-Bahrain” on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day. We highly value the calls they delivered through the program, urging steadfastness on the martyrs’ path, perseverance in commemorating their annual remembrance, and visiting their resting places across all regions and towns. We also call for innovating additional forms of commemoration throughout the year, stressing that the martyrs’ file is a responsibility and a trust borne by everyone. It must remain an integral part of national and religious commitment, while preserving its authenticity and pure value that transcends all narrow frameworks.
5. We place our hopes in the moral provision and the spirit of resistance expressed by our people in commemorating Martyrs’ Day and the anniversary of the passing of Allama Al-Jamri, as a launchpad for entering a new year in Bahrain’s revolution and preparing to commemorate its fifteenth anniversary on 14 February next year. Accordingly, we call for broad planning to mark the anniversary of the revolution, especially as the “tyrant Hamad” has turned this day into yet another platform for staging repulsive celebrations and promoting his false victory over the people and their revolution. We urge all the honorable forces in our beloved country to renew the resolve and unity forged by Pearl Roundabout, and to form a genuine struggle-driven will to build a comprehensive national program that guarantees the people’s right to self-determination through writing their constitution with their own hands, and that establishes a state of justice, dignity, and sovereignty—free from subservience to foreign colonizers, free from tyranny, not a farm for tribes and profiteering merchants, and with no place for imperial domination and its capitalist corporate arms that spread plunder, enslavement, and cultural and moral decay.
