Statement of the Jurist Leader Qassim on the Occasion of “Martyrs’ Day” in Bahrain
His Eminence the Jurist Leader, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, issued a statement on the occasion of “Martyrs’ Day” in Bahrain. The text reads as follows:
In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Our principled, mission-driven, righteous martyrs are beacons of light, landmarks of dignity and steadfastness, and sources of honor and glory. They are callers to truth, justice, reform, security, and peace. They are alive and do not die—neither in their Hereafter nor in the living conscience of this people—and their radiant, noble qualities that draw one closer to God do not perish.
A people who believe in these qualities, fall in love with them, and live by them do not perish. They do not accept a life of abasement, humiliation, and disgrace; they do not endure oppression that targets their religion and their worldly affairs; and they do not tolerate that anyone be wronged—whether by them or by others.
And a people who do not accept injustice inflicted upon others—how could they remain silent when injustice is inflicted upon them by others?
Truth is that which God has affirmed, including that which He has made obligatory upon rulers and the ruled alike. Our people will never relinquish this truth, and it is religiously forbidden for us to abandon it.
We are seekers of this truth—about which there is no doubt in the Sharia—for all the peoples of the world, their generations, and their nations.
