Weekly Position: Cultural and Faith-Based Resistance Is Part of Comprehensive Resistance… and the Arrest of “Sharif” Crowns the New Arrangements with the Zionists
The Political Council of the February 14 Youth Revolution Coalition has issued its weekly position, the text of which reads as follows:
In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
We salute the national and popular stance rejecting the arrest of the prominent leader Mr. Ibrahim Sharif, and we place this targeting within the context of the new security partnerships that bind the Khalifi entity in Bahrain with regimes hostile to the peoples of the region—foremost among them the criminal Zionist entity.
We affirm that the targeting of Mr. Sharif is an assault on the conscience of Bahrain and its people, whose voice he represented in supporting Gaza, backing the Palestinian people’s resistance to occupation and genocide, and calling for the annulment of normalization agreements and the closure of the Zionist embassy in the capital, Manama.
In this context, we record the following points in our weekly position:
—
1.
The arrest of Mr. Sharif is part of the systematic campaign of targeting he has faced since 2011 due to his national views and his commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty and the dignity of its citizens.
We affirm that the policy of terrorism, the constant escape forward, and the fabrication of security crises will not achieve their aims of distracting from existential issues, intimidating people, or deterring national leaders from calling for a system of justice, accountability of the corrupt, and severing the country’s ties with American and Zionist hegemony projects.
Mr. Sharif will remain a symbol of this steadfast stance embodied by our people across all regions, groups, and affiliations.
—
2.
Sharif’s arrest comes as a culmination of the new arrangements concluded by the Al Khalifa with the Zionist entity in the aftermath of the genocide in Gaza—including the redevelopment of diplomatic and commercial relations between the two sides, especially after the appointment of a new Zionist ambassador in Manama, and reports by Zionist sources about the return of “Khalid Al-Jalahma” to his office at the Khalifi embassy in Tel Aviv.
We warn the Al Khalifa against exploiting these arrangements to intensify repression against citizens who oppose normalization and the Zionist project. Supporting Palestine, backing the resistance in Gaza, and rejecting all forms of recognition and normalization with the Zionists is a deeply rooted popular position and a broad national consensus.
When our people feel that this conviction and stance are threatened, they will not stand idly by, and their response—both in action and word—will be decisive and formidable.
—
3.
We believe the campaign targeting opposition figures and activists is being carried out according to a security policy aiming for dual disruption and intimidation, through mixing cards and fabricating side issues to divert the general discourse. This becomes especially active during moments when the people unite around a popular cause capable of breaking the political stagnation and shaking the oppressive security grip.
We witnessed in the funeral of the martyr Abdullah Hassan a powerful scene that unsettled the tyrants of Al-Safriya, caused turmoil within the repression apparatuses directed by the Americans and British, and the wave of arrests that followed was intended to play on psychological pressure and distraction. At that moment, the engineers of repression in the country deemed it the suitable time to execute the already-prepared decision to arrest Mr. Sharif.
—
4.
Three main files shape the current security landscape and the return of repression in the country:
First, preparations for upcoming decisions and projects that deepen political authoritarianism in anticipation of next year’s sham elections;
Second, the economic file and the corruption and theft mafia run mainly by the tyrant Hamad and his sons;
Third, future threats posed by the American-Zionist project in the region and the world.
Accordingly, we place all security arrangements, the “Bahrainization” theatrics, the fabricated job allocations, the orchestrated release operations, and the propaganda efforts at the diplomatic level within the framework of these files. Through them, we understand the trajectory of upcoming normalization, the mechanisms for controlling prisoner releases, the systematic silencing of dissidents, the timing of activist arrests, and the renewed cyber warfare against the opposition and the indigenous citizens’ beliefs.
—
5.
We value the cultural and intellectual activities witnessed in the Bahraini diaspora, especially in documenting the authentic history of Bahrain and its people, and exposing the lies and falsifications used by the Al Khalifa to construct their narrative of invading Bahrain and subjugating its people.
In this regard, we affirm that cultural and faith-based resistance is part of the comprehensive resistance that must be present in confronting the Khalifi scheme aimed at crushing the people’s identity and erasing their religious and cultural existence. This was highlighted by His Eminence, the scholar and leader Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim (may God protect him), in his recent call for resistance to preserve the religion and values of the people from ongoing demolition and falsification.
The efforts of our intellectuals and elites abroad play a significant role in this struggle, but the gravity of the Khalifi scheme demands greater effort, broader engagement, and long-term strategic planning.
