Statement: The Arrest of “Mr. Ibrahim Sharif” Reflects the Authoritarian Nature of the Khalifi Regime

The February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition issued a statement regarding the arrest of the national leader and activist Mr. Ibrahim Sharif. The text reads as follows:

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

The February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition condemns the arrest of the activist and former Secretary-General of the National Democratic Action Society (Wa’ad), Mr. Ibrahim Sharif, immediately upon his arrival at Bahrain International Airport at dawn on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, following his participation in the Arab National Conference held in Beirut.

This arbitrary arrest reflects the authoritarian and arrogant political nature of the Khalifi regime, which continues its systematic violations against the people of Bahrain and its active national forces since the glorious February Revolution of 2011, through policies of repression, silencing dissent, and criminalizing free expression.

Arrests based on baseless accusations such as “spreading false news” or “insulting a sister state” cannot conceal the regime’s deep internal crisis, nor can they justify targeting national voices that express the conscience of the people and their principled stance on Arab causes — foremost among them, rejecting normalization with the Zionist entity and supporting the Palestinian resistance.

We in the February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition call on the Khalifi regime to immediately release Mr. Sharif and hold it fully responsible for his safety. We also demand the release of all prisoners of conscience, particularly the detained national leaders. We reaffirm that the policy of repression will never silence the will of the free people, and that Bahrain will never see stability until freedoms are restored and its people are empowered to determine their political destiny.
