Statement by Political Prisoners on the Martyrdom of the Young Man “Abdullah Hassan Yusuf”

Issued by the political prisoners in Jau Prison regarding the martyrdom of the young man Abdullah Hassan Yusuf, the statement reads as follows:

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

The martyrdom of the young man Abdullah Hassan Yusuf is clear evidence of how little value this regime places on human life, and of the deep chasm that separates the people from their rulers. It is no longer acceptable to remain silent or content with the current state of affairs; rather, it is a moral and national duty to seek change — in word and in deed. This is what the people must understand and act upon.

Abdullah departed to his Lord as a martyr and a witness to the oppression endured by an entire people. From within our prison, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, asking God Almighty to grant his pure soul a place among the prophets, the martyrs, and the righteous — what excellent companions they are.
