Article: What Is the Khalifi Regime Waiting For? Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike Are in Danger
The Instagram account “Teejan Al-Watan” published a report on the deteriorating health conditions of political prisoners on hunger strike in Jaw Prison, Building 12.
According to the report, dated Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the hunger strike by political prisoners in Jaw Prison has entered its ninth day, with a clear decline in the health of several detainees. Many have been transferred to hospitals after experiencing dangerously low blood sugar levels, loss of consciousness, and entering a critical stage.
The report explained that hundreds of political prisoners remain in the Khalifi regime’s prisons — among them are prominent leaders, dozens of chronically ill detainees, and minors under the age of eighteen. With the launch of the “Our Right Is Firm” campaign initiated by the inmates of Building 12 — a series of escalating actions aimed at conveying their demand for unconditional freedom for all prisoners — the Khalifi regime attempted to absorb the momentum by releasing around 50 detainees under what is known as the “open prisons system.” The regime seemingly hoped that this move would persuade prisoners to end their campaign, which had already extended beyond the prison walls through popular solidarity movements and support from opposition forces.
However, this bet failed, and the campaign continues. The political prisoners have now escalated to a hunger strike, demonstrating firm determination not to back down.
The report added that while these limited releases were taking place, arbitrary arrests continued, targeting teenagers and young men with pre-determined charges and pre-written verdicts, as if the regime were simply replacing the released prisoners with new ones.
The Teejan Al-Watan account — which specializes in monitoring the situation of political detainees — posed a pressing question:
> “Given the consequences of this hunger strike, which has begun to cast its shadow over the prisoners demanding their rights through this internationally recognized form of protest — what is the Khalifi regime waiting for?”
It further emphasized that the regime is well aware that the political prisoners will not retreat, and that its stubborn refusal to release them and reckless disregard for their lives and safety only serve to intensify the dangers now surrounding them.
