Once again… Prisoner of conscience Ahmed Jafar targeted and persecuted
The administration of Jaw Prison has not ceased tightening measures against prisoner of conscience Ahmed Jafar and persecuting him since the regime received him from the government of Serbia.
In a voice message, Ahmed revealed his ongoing suffering as a result of the violations he is subjected to inside the prison — a new testimony that sheds light on the reality of political prisoners in Bahrain.
He stated that he has been transferred to solitary confinement for more than a week and remains held there at the time of writing his testimony, in conditions described as “extremely harsh.” He confirmed that he had been physically abused by one of the building’s guards, in a flagrant violation of his human dignity, in addition to the poor conditions in the solitary cell.
Furthermore, Ahmed Jafar announced that he had begun a hunger strike since last Friday in protest against the abuses he is subjected to, holding firm to this act of resistance despite his dire circumstances.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Interior of the regime received the Bahraini citizen Ahmed Jafar from Serbia, which forcibly deported him from its territory in blatant violation of the law, as there was a judicial order preventing it. This occurred on Monday, January 24, 2022. He was subjected to systematic torture aimed at extracting confessions from him that bear no relation to reality. The Bahraini Public Prosecution then issued a statement announcing the commencement of implementing the sentences issued against him, describing him as “one of the most dangerous terrorist elements,” and claiming that he was the mastermind of several “terrorist” operations witnessed in Bahrain in past years. These, according to the authorities, resulted in the killing of members of the “police” and civilians, as well as attempted killings, and the use of firearms with the assistance of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and others in Iraq, with the intent of disturbing public security — in addition to his alleged involvement in organizing, managing, and directing terrorist groups in carrying out operations and securing their funding.
Citizen Ahmed Jafar is a former detainee who was subjected to torture in the regime’s prisons and sustained serious injuries during the 2011 protests. He was sentenced in absentia to three life sentences, in addition to a fourth sentence of ten years’ imprisonment on political grounds. He is one among hundreds whom the Khalifi regime has accused of terrorism in an attempt to tarnish the image of its opponents.
