Result of Negligence… Fire in Al-Hawd Al-Jawf Prison and Attacks on Prisoners
The Khalifa Ministry of Interior announced the occurrence of a fire in Al-Hawd Al-Jawf Prison on Tuesday, August 19th, during which two juvenile detainees were transported to the hospital due to suffocation.
Amidst a blackout on the truth of what happened, sources reported that Building 17, designated for young political detainees in the prison, was stormed by mercenary forces and the intelligence apparatus, which used excessive force including sound grenades and tear gas. This led to a large-scale chaos inside the building, and a fire was documented in one of its sections.
Meanwhile, the families of the children detained in Al-Hawd Al-Jawf Prison expressed deep concern for their safety, especially after communications were cut off and visits were canceled. They emphasized the urgent need to allow their children to make contact to reassure them and to permit visits to verify their wellbeing. They also demanded clarification regarding the circumstances of the fire.
