Weekly Position: On “Bahraini Prisoners’ Day” We Call for Unity in National Struggle and Confronting the “Trap of File Fragmentation”
Issued by the Political Council of the February 14 Youth Coalition
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We call upon our loyal people in Bahrain to prepare to commemorate “Bahraini Prisoners’ Day” on July 24, which comes this year amid numerous challenges facing the Bahraini revolution, including the issue of political prisoners—a core front in the ongoing political battle against the Al Khalifa entity.
On this occasion, we in the Political Council of the February 14 Coalition emphasize that the policies of repression, blackmail, and bargaining will not succeed in distorting the narrative around the prisoners and the detained revolutionary leaders. Their cause is inseparably tied to the root problem of the criminal regime in Bahrain. No local or regional developments should distract from the compass of true resistance against tyranny and corruption—especially as this confrontation has become an existential battle concerning the identity and religious presence of the native citizens.
On this occasion, we affirm the following points:
—
1. On “Bahraini Prisoners’ Day,” we reaffirm our solidarity with the beloved detainees and express pride in their sacrifices and the steadfastness of their noble families. They are the embodiment of the path of resilience and defiance embraced by our noble people—a principled path that refuses deviation or surrender, no matter the hardship. The heroic acts and strong mobilizations within the prisons serve as clear evidence of the failure of distorted approaches to the prisoners’ file, including efforts to fragment the prisoner movement and fabricate internal divisions—especially after the so-called “alternative sentences and open prisons” policy.
—
2. Protecting the issue of political prisoners is a shared responsibility of the revolutionary people and opposition forces. We stress the need to adhere to a strategy that connects the prisoners’ issue with all revolutionary causes, avoiding the fragmentation and isolation of individual files. All human rights violations are direct outcomes of the overarching political crisis and the absence of a true constitutional state. This understanding is the foundation from which we address the prisoner issue and counter the Al Khalifa regime’s longstanding tactic of isolating and attacking files one by one under various pretexts.
—
3. On this occasion, we call for drawing lessons from past struggles led by our people and the imprisoned leaders before 2011, particularly the golden era of the resistance movement, which successfully countered Al Khalifa’s brutality after the tyrant Hamad’s coup against the constitutional agreement. At that time, the revolutionary path was clearly defined as resistance to the constitutional coup and the complete institutionalization of tyranny. The people maintained a unified and comprehensive revolutionary movement, organizing grassroots committees to handle various issues, all under the unifying banner of defiance and rejection of compromise.
—
4. The prisoners’ issue stands on foundational pillars that cannot be separated. Ignoring or addressing them in isolation risks falling into the trap of Al Khalifa manipulation. These pillars include:
A. The immediate, unconditional, and natural right to release all political prisoners.
B. Recognizing the deprivation of their freedom as a political, ethical, and legal crime that must be stopped and punished.
C. The right of prisoners to receive compensation for the moral and physical abuse they suffered, as part of a national acknowledgment and honor for their sacrifices and those of their families.
D. The dismantling of the entire security apparatus responsible for these violations, including the laws and sham investigation bodies that enabled and whitewashed the crimes.
E. Linking the resolution of the prisoners’ issue to a trustworthy and time-bound process to address the root problem—namely, the absence of justice and dignity in governance due to the monopolization of power by the brutal Al Khalifa tribe and the lack of a genuine constitutional state.
—
5. We affirm our absolute distrust in the occupying Al Khalifa regime, which continues to ravage the country through corruption and destruction. Our people will no longer be deceived by any slogans or poisonous initiatives from this criminal gang, which persists in oppression, home raids, and abductions—most recently through its crackdown on Ashura commemorations. Every day, the tyrant and his despicable clique provide further proof of their separation from and hostility toward the people. They are seen as criminal invaders who sell the homeland and its wealth to Zionists and Americans in exchange for protection and regime survival.
We consider the Al Khalifa family to be an evil force occupying Bahrain with Zionist-American colonial support, under various deals and agreements, including the “normalization agreement” with the genocidal Zionist entity and the so-called “Comprehensive Integration Agreement” with the Americans and British. We view these deals as tools to expand foreign hegemony and turn our land into a colonial and espionage base serving the agendas of global arrogance and corruption.
