The February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition called for the support of the shrine of the great companion ‘’Sa’saa bin Suhan al-Abdi’’, who was closed to visitors by the Khalifi regime, as well as leaving it subjected to neglect and vandalism for years.
The shrine and mosque of ‘’Sa’saa bin Suhan’’ date back to the year 676 AH, making it one of the most ancient grave of a historic Islamic figure in Bahrain and its most important historical monument at all.
Despite the demands to register the shrine in the list of human heritage in UNESCO, especially that the requirements have been satisfied, the Khalifi regime deliberately neglects it, leaving it subjected to vandalism and theft for many years, as it does not lift a finger in front of everything that is exposed to it, and not ensuring it protection like other mosques, in addition to the complicity of the so-called Ja’fari Waqf, which releases a shy stance that is unmatched by the terror exposed to the shrine.
Before the revolution, the mosque was attacked in 2003 and 2007, where its doors were ripped, stones had been thrown, and the citizens were prohibited from performing the prayers of Maghrib and Isha.
After the revolution, the first attack occurred in March 2011, then it was vandalized and destroyed in 2012 and some of its holdings were stolen, including air conditioners and windows made of aluminium.
In 2014, unidentified attackers assaulted the mosque by pouring dyes inside and writing on the walls, as well as breaking its protective barrier, and causing damage to the historical rock inside it, so later, the regime closed its windows with cement and cinder blocks, preventing residents from visiting it instead of providing security and opening it to visitors.
In 2016, insulting phrases were written on its walls after breaking its doors and windows by unidentified person, the citizens suggested that they were naturalized living in the region, and in 2020, once again was broken and vandalized, causing it to become a ruin.
