The media authority of the February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition launched a media campaign on “Bahraini Prisoner’s Day”, coinciding with the announcement of the launch of its events.
In this context, the social media sites of the coalition were filled with rallies and artistic designs that define this day and urge the need to revive it, in addition to pictures of the political detainees from different regions who are still languishing in the regime’s prisons.
On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, the February 14 Coalition announced the launch of the events of the “Bahraini Prisoner’s Day”, which falls on July 24 of each year.
In his announcement, which he published on his accounts on social media, he urged broad participation in these events, to express popular solidarity with political detainees, and to affirm their rights freedom without any conditions and the necessity of evacuating prisons.
It is noteworthy that the idea of allocating a day for the Bahraini prisoner emerged in 2015, 4 years after the spark of the February 14 Revolution, and the increase in the number of detainees on political grounds, with the exposure to the most heinous violations and various types of tortures. The first day of this slogan was on Friday, July 24, 2015.
In that year, political detainees went on a hunger strike to protest against the crimes of physical and psychological torture they were subjected to, while the masses of the Bahraini people announced their active participation in the activities of the “Bahraini Prisoner’s Day”, where demonstrations, sit-ins and revolutionary pervaded the cities and towns of Bahrain, blocking streets and squares and igniting the flames of anger. The masses affirmed their fateful solidarity with the prisoners, and the streets of Bahrain’s cities and towns were decorated with pictures of the prisoners, and exultant evenings were held in the homes of many of them of a number of areas.
The people of Bahrain continue to commemorate this day by insisting on evacuating prisons completely of any prisoner of conscience, especially with the deteriorating conditions in illness, violations, ill-treatment and retaliatory policies.
