Al-Khalifa Public Prosecution Office swiftly denied what Al-Bilad Newspaper reported about the upholding of a three years’ imprisonment for burning the flag of the Zionist entity, by the illegitimate regime ‘s courts, after calls from the February 14 Coalition to burn it in confirmation of the popular rejection of normalization with the Zionists and the so-called deal of the century.
The Chief of Prosecution, Hamad Shaheen, claimed that “the prosecution did not present any suspect to the criminal court for demonstrating, for external political reasons,” explaining that the case included an accusation against two citizens and others for setting fire to wood and furniture on the highway, threatening the lives of people and properties and creating chaos in the country, according to him. He added that he had not received in the minutes of the incident any indication of burning a flag of any country, as it was clear that the description of the accusation referred to them by the Public Prosecutors was not clear of such an incident , according to his claim.
His statement came in response to what Al-Bilad Newspaper, owned by Ibn Khalifa bin Salman, which mentioned in its headlines that “He claimed that burning wood and blocking roads is a victory for the Palestinian cause … upholding of 3-years in prison for a citizen and others burned the Israeli flag”. It mentioned that the young man admitted his participation in the incident at the instigation of a young man, who was previously in prison, and he has been agreed with unknown persons exceeding 10 people to meet at Al-Badiaa Street on that night, to support the Palestinian cause. They went where the agreed place was, masked and carrying wood, oil, a chair, and the Israeli flag with them, and then closed the street at the entrance of Abu Saibaa area, poured the oil and set fire to them, for preventing security forces from reaching there, according to the claim.
As a result, he was sentenced to 3 years, but he appealed and his appeal was denied, and the courts upheld the verdict, which is a breakthrough for Al-Khalifa successive attempts to normalizing ties with the Zionist entity.
Meanwhile, the Feb 14 Coalition had called for burning the Zionist flag in refusal to normalization with the Zionists and the disastrous deal of the century, and as an adherence to the Palestinian cause.
