As part of the retaliation policy adopted by Al-Khalifa regime, the prisoners of opinion have been deprived of their right to get treatment despite their bad conditions, and due to their positions and opinions.
In this context, the Gulf Institute for Democracy and Human Rights said that the detainee “Hassan Abdullah” , who suffers from acute diabetes, needs an urgent surgery, as he had been waited his medical reservation since four months ago.
Abdullah was transferred to the hospital after his health condition was deteriorated, and he stayed for 3 weeks, while the specialist doctor set a date for an urgent surgery, explaining that the surgery was necessary for him, because he had a gland in his neck needed to be removed. The surgery was scheduled on October 13, 2019, but the prison administration refused to transfer him the hospital.
The Institute also stated on Monday, 10 February 2020 that the Joe Central Prison Administration refused to take Hassan to the hospital, although he needs an exchange transfusion.
In the same context, the International Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms – a member of the International Criminal Court Alliance – demanded on Saturday, February 8, to expedite the treatment of the prisoner “Ayoub Adel”, who has severe health conditions, where he suffers from severe injury and pain in the left leg causing pain in his back, and he needs to follow up with an orthopedic doctor to complete treatment, especially after his health deteriorated. He also was suffered from a damage of foot’s nerves, and he needs a follow-up and medicines, as he became disable and could not walk and never leave his cell.
It is mentioned that two prisoners of conscience were died at the beginning of this year due to torture and diseases they suffered in prison as well as the lack of treatment. The regime decided to release them , but y it was too late as their conditions were so deteriorated and they died.
The two martyrs : Hameed Khatem ,died on Friday January 31, 2020, and field commander, Kadhem Al-Sahlawi, died on Monday, February 3, 2020.
