Activists and human rights defenders circulated a video clip for the honorable Companion’s Shrine “Sa`sa bin Sohan”, showing how bad it was, as it became a semi-ruined, as a result of the deliberate neglect by Al-Khalifa regime.
Human rights activist Ebtisam Al-Saigh denounced the loss of this religious heritage due to the intransigence of the regime. She said on her Instagram: “Blurring the identity is the occupier’s approach, therefore sincere people must invoke patriotism in protecting the history of Bahrain.
She mentioned ” It is very unfortunate how the shrine of the Companion” Sa`sa bin Sohan al-Abdi” was ruined in Bahrain , instead of being reconstructed by the Bahraini Tourism Authority, as being a historical landmark that tells the roots of this island”
” It is not only an ancient grave, but rather a witness of the history, authenticity and identity of this island and its people” , she added.
Al-Saigh also denounced the regime’s ignorance of what was happening to this archaeological site, as she believes that its ruin was a setback for the history and civilization of the country, and a shortcoming that required accountability, and a lack of visions of moral and ethical values, because it is a landmark that attracts religious and historical tourism.
Over the years of the revolution, the shrine was severely damaged, first in 2011, and in 2014, while in 2016, it was vandalized too, where phrases were written on its walls, at which time citizens believed that they were carried out by naturalized residents of the region, after they settled in it and have been provided with housing and employment by the regime. .
The mosque of the Companion ” Sa`sa bin Sohan” is one of the historical and religious monuments that the regime persists to vandalize, for sectarian reasons, as it was demolished of about 40 Shiite’s mosques during the 2011 revolution. Nevertheless, the regime expresses its tolerance with religious sects in the international forums and rushes to normalize ties with the Zionists under this pretext.
