On Saturday, January 25, 2020, the detainees of Dry Dock Prison announced that they will suspend their hunger strike, following promises from the prison administration to meet their demands.
Since Wednesday, 225 detainees in the Dry Dock Prison have been on hunger strike to demand an end to ill-treatment and abuse, access to necessary medical care after an outbreak of skin diseases, a cessation of deliberate health neglect and improved conditions inside the prison.
It is noteworthy that more than 50% of the detainees in the Dry Dock Prison suffer from skin diseases, including scabies and allergies, amid complete and deliberate disregard by the prison administration, especially the one named “Fahad Al-Koheji”, who directly involved in carrying out abuses and human rights crimes against them.
