The February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition said that the call for mass demonstrations in Iraq comes amid sensitive, crucial local and regional circumstances, especially after the assassination of the martyr leaders Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis by air strikes from an American drone.
It said, in a statement on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, that the importance of these demonstrations also lie in challenging the U.S. rejection of the Iraqi House of Representatives’ resolution demanding the departure of its forces and respect for Iraq’s sovereignty, in addition to having popular and political support immediately after it was announced.
The February 14 Coalition confirmed that the threat of the U.S. occupation of Iraqi territory has increased, even threatening Iraqi national security and the security of the entire region, by expanding its military operations to carry out systematic assassinations against national leaders and all those working to preserve the sovereignty of Iraq.
Additionally, this occupation continues to steal Iraq’s oil and the future of its generations and to confiscate its national political decision in a rude and public manner, stressing the right of the Iraqi people to defeat any occupation, especially the terrorist American.
The statement hailed these unified popular demonstrations, praising the unity of the Iraqi people, and affirming that it will stand with them in the same position and same trench until the liberation of the entire Iraq’s territory, and every country occupied by the American forces, especially Bahrain.
