The families of the prisoners of opinion have mentioned that their detained sons in the central prison of Joe are suffering grievously from the cold weather and water, which happens every year with the onset of winter.
They said that ” their sons do not only suffer from unsanitary environments, overcrowding, and narrow cells, but also from cold water showers, which causes chills and tachycardia”, pointing out that the lack hot water inside the cells causes convulsions for people who have sickle cell disorder.
The families believe that the prison administration is endangering their sons’ lives and safety for retaliation, and called for an intervention to protect them.
In the context , the systematic revenge increased against prisoners that suffering from allergies and scabies, where they were unable to sleep because of the severe itching.
In an audio recording, the prisoner Hassan Atiya said ” what’s happening in prison is a humanitarian disaster against prisoners”, adding that they have suffered since almost a year and a half of skin diseases, blisters, or sensitivity throughout the body, in addition to severe itching. The prison clinic did not take any serious action with respect to these cases, and infections, but it only prescribed “ointment” for them.
” Skin diseases became rampant among prisoners, where there were about 100 infected prisoners in the building, amid a deliberate ignorance by the prison clinic, threats of solitary confinement for anyone who insists to go to the clinic, denial of visits and ..etc.”, he concluded .
