Human rights sources reported that prisoners of conscience in the central prison of Joe suffer from the spread of skin diseases, especially –scabies, in the absence of medical care, deliberate neglect, and the lack of hygiene inside cells.
The sources said that the detainees in 12 buildings complain of an outbreak of scabies among them, due to overcrowding in the cells and the lack of means of ventilation, as well as the deliberate prison administration deprival of treatment, explaining that the itching became troublesome, as they cannot at night, causing insomnia among infected prisoners, with the appearance of tumors on the skin and blisters.
The sources quoted the prisoners as demanding to provide treatment for people under the supervision of a specialist doctor, changing blankets and mattresses, giving them cotton clothes, get rid of old clothes, and spraying cells with pesticides to stop the multiplication of the insect causing the disease inside the prison.
