The February 14 Coalition said that although more than four decades have passed since the British colonial demise of Bahrain, it has not left the people of Bahrain to decide their political destiny by themselves. On the contrary, the occupation has deepened its roots, either by intelligence or by international political coverage that provided by all the successive British governments to protect the dictator Al-Khalifa from any international accountability.
In a statement on Independence Day on August 14, 2019, it explained that the new British colonialism has re-emerged again through the clear military presence and the establishment of a British military base, in contravention of the popular will, in order to consecrate its colonial and military hegemony on the land of Bahrain, violating all the international covenants and treaties. It contributed in supporting the family of al-Khalifa’s dictatorship in a clear and flagrant way. It stood against the will of Bahrain people that sought to have a real independence since long decades and gave every precious sacrifice to get it.
February 14 Coalition added that the slogan of this anniversary this year “Resist for Sovereignty”, reflects the determination of Bahrain people to uproot all forms of occupation by fighting all its forms and types, to defeat every occupier that prevents them from gaining the most important right to the sovereignty of its territory and political decision.
As an opposition force, the Collation called on the House of Lords and the Commons in the British Parliament to study and reassess all their disgraceful behavior against the people and land of Bahrain. It also urged the British voter to press the heads of the political parties and political forces to which he belonged so that his voice would not cause the torture, killing and displacement of the indigenous people of Bahrain by any elected Gov’t in UK, according to the Coalition.
February 14 coalition renewed the covenant for the people of Bahrain on this anniversary which al-Khalifa regime tries to obliterate. It pledged to maintain the revolution until achieving self-determination and toppling the corrupt al-Khalifa rule, and have a real sovereignty.
