According to Human rights sources, 11 detainees in building No. 12 ,in the central prison of Joe are still on hunger strike for the 14th consecutive day, without any initiative from the prison administration or any response to their demands.
According to the sources, the striking detainees are demanding the cessation of ill-treatment and constant harassment, the suspension of solitary confinement, the granting of telephone calls, the purchase of their sanitary materials and certain foodstuffs from the prison booth. The sources reported a sharp drop and apparent weakness, with the insistence of the prison administration to procrastinate sending ill-prisoners to the clinic, as the doctor – a Sudanese nationality – is refusing to treat the sick detainees, explaining that the day of the treatment does not correspond to the timetable, even if the detainee was transferred because of the symptoms of hunger strike
The families of the detainees called on human rights authorities to move and save their children, who are dying silently for “guaranteed rights”, according to their expression.
