Dozens of prisoners of conscience in al-Khalifa prisons, especially in the central prison of Joe, suffer from skin diseases such as scabies and alopecia.
The prison administration deliberately neglects the treatment of patients and it only isolates them without medical care. The administration had resorted to procedures and practices which in turn lead to the aggravation of these diseases including, the lack of sanitary ware, not to change the inappropriate prison conditions, cutting water constantly, not to repair the sewage where the water is flooded in the bathrooms of the rooms, forcing the detainees to wash their clothes manually and not to allow hanging the clothes under the sun.
