The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the al-Khalifa regime accused the State of Qatar of being behind the decision in which the European Parliament ratified the absolute majority of an urgent project condemning human rights violation in Bahrain and demanding the immediate and unconditional release of political detainees, following its rejection of this decision.
In a statement, it said that, while it appreciates the legislative role of the European Parliament in the European system and its political duties, it expresses deep regret that the decision of the European Parliament has external parties behind it, who provide it false information, inaccurate and misleading information aimed at discrediting Bahrain in the field of human rights and was issued immediately after Parliament began investigating corruption cases and receiving funds that preoccupied public opinion and the European and International media and charged a number of parliamentarians who have relations with the State of Qatar.
It is noteworthy that the European Parliament has ratified a draft resolution calling on the Khalifi regime to immediately and unconditionally release the human rights defender ‘’Abdulhadi al-Khawaja’’ and all other political prisoners, end all forms of torture and abolish death sentences with the complete abolition of the death penalty, as the decision was voted on by an overwhelming majority, which the project won 316 votes out of 360.
