The Coalition of February 14 said that the criminal al-Khalifa regime is increasingly adopting the policy of sectarian oppression against the people of Bahrain, especially during Ashura of Imam Hussein “p”. This is through the blatant encroachment on Ashura manifestations and sabotage, the removal of banners, and the series of summons, investigation and systematic arrests against the preachers of the pulpit of Hussein and the clergymen. It aims to hit Ashura season and weaken it by blocking their Hussein’s voices during the days and nights of Muharram, and restricting the prisoners of opinion and preventing them from reviving this occasion.
It explained, in a statement on Saturday 7 September 2019, that the people of Bahrain did not kneel a day for the regime and will not bow, nor surrendered and will not surrender in the future. The people will not abandon their religious beliefs and rituals that stem from the meanings of their steadfastness and courage, and will not bargain. It condemned the summons of the barbaric and Yezidi arrests of the preachers of Hussein and the pioneers of Hussein’s processions, which express the historical hatred of al-Khalifa family against Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). The statement falsified the regime’s respect for the freedom of religions and beliefs, and refuted its claim to respect Ashura ceremonies and the steps to make them successful.
The February 14 coalition addressed Hamad bin Issa, as saying that these summonses and barbaric arrests will only increase our Husseini people’s determination to continue this eternal revolutionary march, which derives its strength and durability from the thought of Hussein “p” and the giving of Karbala.
