According to human rights sources, the prisoner of opinion, Mohammed Abdullah al-Singace, announced on Tuesday, 13 August 2019, that he is going to suspend his hunger strike which lasted to 52 days after his health was deteriorated.
The sources pointed out that al-Singace had received promises from Joe Central Prison Administration to send his grievances to the “illegitimate” judiciary regarding the retrial. He also received promises from officials to consider his other demands, including improving the prison’s conditions.
On June 22, 2019, al-Singace had announced that he had entered an open-ended hunger strike to protest against the failure to heed his demands for a retrial. He has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for political cases, and sent many letters and reports of torture to the officials.
