According to human rights sources, detainees in Joe Central Prison building 13 are demanding to improve their conditions in the cells, complaining of overcrowding, as the cells are customized for 8 people only, while there are 17 prisoners inside.
In a phone call, the prisoners said that water shortage is the biggest problem they face on a permanent basis, and their effects are dangerous to the health, especially with the spread of diseases .
The prisoners demanded that they want to perform the group-prayer through opening the doors of the mosque, or at least give them a room enough to pray in one cell.
They also stressed the right to appropriate treatment, demanding the transfer of patients infected with influenza virus spread between prisoners to the hospital and provide them with anti-vaccinations to eliminate the disease.
Meanwhile, some sources reported that many of the detainees in the Central Prison of Joe suffering from fever, cold and severe headache, after the spread of influenza, due to poor ventilation and deliberate neglect of sanitation.
