“Stones of anger respond to the threats of Bahrain’s ruler… and (Hamad’s) picture is thrown in the streets”
In a notable development reflecting the escalation of public tension in Bahrain, media networks circulated today, Monday, April 20, footage documenting residents of the town of Damistan throwing stones at a picture of Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the ruler of Bahrain.
This comes in response to threats he issued to revoke citizenship and impose harsh rulings against citizens on charges of “showing solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
This protest activity came a day after an escalating speech in which Hamad accused unnamed parties of having “external loyalties,” warning that anyone proven to be in solidarity with Tehran would face “strict measures,” including revocation of citizenship and imprisonment for long periods.
