The European Council has announced that the prominent Bahraini lawman imprisoned in al-Khalifa prisons «Nabeel Rajab» has been nominated for “Vaclav Havel Human Rights Prize” for the year 2018.
The organizing committee explained that Rajab deserved the nomination because he is a prominent human rights defender in Bahrain, the head of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, and has shown a lifelong commitment to defending human rights despite the threat on his life.
The winner of the annual award for civil society in defense of human rights in Europe and abroad will be announced at the opening session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council in Strasbourg on 8, October 2018.
